About Us

One of the delights of babies and toddlers is the fun you can have picking out cute clothes and dressing them up.  Although I wasn’t much of a doll lover as a young girl, I had great delight in buying and sewing clothes for my children.

However, as a preemie parent, that joy of dressing our son in his cute clothes was to be delayed. We waited many months for our son to grow big enough to come home. I still vividly recall his first preemie outfit. It was a soft, snap coverall – white with cute little dogs – and oh, so tiny. Yet, he barely fit into it.

I loved receiving clothes as a gift for our son. Day after day, I would stand in his home, dreaming of the day he could fit a size 0-3 months!

One of my possessions is the tiny preemie hat given to us when he was in the NICU. Gently placing it on his tiny head his nurse exclaimed, “He’s old enough to wear his hat now!” What a wonderful gift from some caring volunteer. We never met her – but I am still thankful to this day.

When he was young, I made many of his clothes. Patterns were hard to find, so I did a lot of modifying… I loved making things for him! I felt like a “real mom”…

Sewing and shopping for preemie clothes while we waited for him to grow helped keep me (more or less) sane. Unfortunately, finding preemie clothes was not easy then. Thankfully, now there are a number of good options for preemie clothes – providing the comfort and ease they need, with cute styles, too.

I created this Preemie Clothes Guide as a way of saying thanks to the special woman who made the knit cap long ago for our preemie. And a thank you, also, for the joy of dressing our son in his first preemie outfit. I hope this helps those waiting moms and grandmoms and the sweet ladies sewing for and clothing the tiny preemies born every day. Blessings.
